🚫 “Want to lose weight? Just eat less and move more.”
🚫 “Avoid carbs after 6 PM.”
🚫 “Drinking water will help suppress your appetite, so drink up before meals!”
🚫 “Cookies and chocolate? Only on cheat days!”

While many trainers have a lot of wisdom when it comes to reps, sets, and form, nutrition is an entirely different ballgame.

Diet isn’t one-size-fits-all, and these generic bits of “advice” overlook our body’s unique needs, hormonal balance, metabolism, and so much more.

What you eat, when you eat, and how you eat should be aligned with YOUR body, YOUR goals, and YOUR lifestyle.🙌🏼

Not some cookie-cutter mantra that gets passed around the gym floor.

If you’ve heard these tidbits (or others!) from a well-meaning trainer, take it with a grain of salt.

Remember, when it comes to nutrition, it’s best to consult with those trained specifically in that area 🫶🏻

This was my third workout in 24 hours.

At this time I was deep in my eating disorder. I was obsessing over every bite I ate, pushing my body harder and harder, and pretending everything was fine.

I didn’t think I had a problem.

Three days later, I was trying to type a paragraph and I couldn’t lift my arms to my keyboard.

My friend forced me to go to the hospital after noticing a ton of swelling and I was pretty sure I had rhabdo.

When I got the hospital, the nurse looked at me and said, “If you’ve had rhabdo for three days without treatment… you’d be dead.”

I advocated for myself to get labs (ugh, the effing medical system)

My numbers were off the charts.

They told me I was incredibly lucky to be alive&
I spent a week in the hospital. Not just recovering physically, but starting to wake up to what I had been doing to myself.

That moment didn’t heal everything, but it shattered the lie I was living in.

It was the beginning of the end of my eating disorder & the start of finding my way back to myself.

In the world of skinnytok, it’s easy to feel like your body is never enough.

I get it. I spent so much time shrinking myself, chasing an idea of ‘perfection’ that only made me more anxious, more isolated, and more disconnected from real life.

It felt so good in the moment, but looking back I wasted so much time & choosing to heal was the best decision I ever made.

If you’re struggling with constant food thoughts, obsessing about the gym & always trying to shrink your body, you deserve more.

You deserve a life that’s bigger than food rules and body checking.

Whole30 taught me to think about food in extremes — “good” or “bad
 It wasn’t just a 30-day reset. It reset the way I saw food & my body.
 I became obsessed. I read every ingredient label, panicked over the tiniest “slip,” and felt guilty for eating foods I used to love.

I thought I was being healthy. But really, I was afraid.
 Afraid of messing up. Afraid of not being “good enough.”
 That’s not food freedom, that’s a cage.

If you’ve felt this too, I want you to know: You don’t have to live that way. You can unlearn the rules. You can rebuild trust with your body. You can be well without being at war with yourself.

The guilt you feel after eating didn’t come out of nowhere.

It was taught to you by diet culture, by wellness trends, by people who learned the same shame.

But guess what? You can unlearn it.

🍽️ Food is not a moral issue.
🧠 Guilt is not a sign you “ate wrong.”
🧡 You’re allowed to feel safe with food again.

Start by asking:
Who taught me to feel this way?
Do I want to keep believing this?
